HISTORIE pApA rOaCh
V malém kalifornském městě Vacaville, čtyři vysokoškolští kámoši- Coby Dick (Shaddix) ,
Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner a Will James se rozhodli založit skupinu. V roce 1993
se pojmenovali Papa Roach a skupina jejíž vliv byl obsažený obsažený v nápadné Bay
Area začali nahrávat. Papa Roach se rychle dostali do špičky Vacavilleské hudební
scény s jejich směsicí Hip-Hopu, Groove-Funku a Harcoru.
Po pár letech hraní v kavárnách, pizzeriích byli pozváni do míst jako Cactus Club v
San Jose, Cattle Club v Sacramentu a Berkeley Square v Berkeley. Přijeli nepředvídatelní,
syrovou silou oplývající a na ŽIVO, tím zaujali Papa Roach pozornost mladších posluchačů.
A ti se jim naplno odvděčili, když přišli na všechny jejich koncerty. Už v těchto ranných
letech byli Papa Roach schopni podporovat na dvou koncertech The Deftones.
Jedna z nejvíce pokládaných otázek je o vzniku jejich jména.
Zdá se, že Dave Buckner měl Cd jazzového zpěváka Pancho Sancheze, zvaného
Papa Gato. K názvu se připojilo poslední jméno Dickovi babičky, jež bylo "Roatch".
Se souhlasem k Dickovo nápadu nakreslili kluci logo- ŠVÁBA-aby jejich název nemohl
být spojen s marihuanou. "To není to, o co nám jde; jsme druh stejně jako švábi, a ti
také nemůžou přežít vždy-jsme pevná, bojovná kapela.
V létě 1996, když uskutečňovali něco, aby to bylo speciální, Papa Roach se
rozhodli udělat nutné změny k dosáhnutí dalšího stupně ke slávě. Za prvé skupina
vyměnila basáka Willa Jamese, kvůli jeho oddanosti ke kostelu, a tak zamezil zkoušení
a hraní na vystoupeních celé léto. Papa Roach nemuseli zas tak dlouho hledat nového
basáka. Tobin Esperance, kterému bylo teprve 16 let a který od 13-ti let jezdil s Papa
Roach se ochotně ke kapele přidal jako nový basák.
"Old Friends From Young Years" bylo nahráno za 700$ v E.S.P. studiích v Pittsburgu,
v Kalifornii, a následně vydáno v únoru roku 1997. Obsahovalo 13 písní včetně písní
"Orange Drive Palms" a "Liquid Diet". Kapela překvapila, když se stala #1 v
Sacramentském nejžádanějším žebříčku nepřetržitě po pět týdnů. Papa Roach se
proslavili vydáním jejich prvního alba po několika vystoupeních. Vacavillského
vystoupení se zúčastnilo 700 dětí, po vydání CD se jich dostavilo v Berkeley na 300 a v
Sacramentu na 400.
Velká obliba Papa Roach ale nevyprchala, ale stále narůstala a Papa Roach začali být
zváni na hodně velkých mezinárodních akcí. Také podpořili mnoho dnes přicházejících
skupin do agresivního rockového žánru, včetně skupin Incubus, Sevendust,
Powerman 5000, Snot, Far, Human Waste Project, Downset a Fu Manchu.
Ačkoli je album Infest nejvýznamnějším albem, Papa Roach už několik roků chrlili do
světa svá CD. Jejich prvně nahraným dobrodružstvím bylo v roce 1995 "Caca Bonita",
po které přišlo v roce 1997 Old Friends From Young Years. Dvě více nezávislá CD také
vydali v letech 1998- 5 Tracks Deep a v roce 1999 Let ´Em Know.
Navzdory jakémukoli pořádnému ochucení Infest zastupoval začátek cesty téhle mladé
kapely. Jako hlavní písničku přislíbili Papa Roach "coming to infest". Aby ten, kdo dává
přednost poučení si chtěl nepochybně koupit album. "Pop music jako Britney Spears je
vlastně o ničem," tvrdí Dick. "Je to jenom takovej bonbónek. Já nechci utéci realitě - chci
vstoupit hluboko do ní."
Jejich dalším počinem je album lovehatetragedy vydané v roce 2002 (v září). Lovehatetragedy se v Americe prodalo přes 500 000 kopií! První song který z alba vypustili do světa byl z roku 1998's 'She Loves Me Not'. Když se Shaddixe zpetali na důvod proč skaldbu na album umístli jeho odpověd byla: Song přežil test času.
Album Getting Away With Murder (2004) zaznamenalo u Papa Roach velkou změnu…Místo řevu a rapu, tak klasického u Papa Roach, nastoupil zpěv občas kombinovaný se řvaním. Kytary už nebyly tak ostré ale lehce uhlazené…vůbec to nebylo na škodu. Byla to příjemná změna a možná pro některé fanoušky změna překvapivá. Melodie jsou chytlavé a příjemně se celé album poslouchá. První singl Getting Away With Murder zaznamenal návrat Papa Roach na scénu. A další singl Scars to vše završil, nádherná melodie a vše ostatní do sebe zapadalo.Nejnovější album The Paramour Sessions už u kritiků nezaznamenalo takový úspěch,ale podle mě je to pecka.Úplně jiný zvuk a styl je podle mě velkým plusem.Tak kdo ho ještě neslyšel,ať to rychle napraví a posoudí sám,jestli se kritici mýlí nebo měli pravdu.

Tam se poznal s Davem Bucknerem se kterým v roce 93‘ založil kapelu s názvem Papa Roach. 19.07.1996 se oženil s Kelly, a 23.03.2002 se narodil jjjejich první syn Makaile Cielo Shaddix.. 13. října(? asi ?) 2004 Kelly porodila druhé dítě které se jmenuje Jagger. Jacoby si do nedávna říkal přezdívkou COBY DICK ale časem se to změnilo jenom na COBY.

Velký vliv na jeho rozvoj měly kapely jako Metallica, Faith No More, Ministry atd…Na kytaru se naučil hrát sám. V 18-ti se za pomocí své přítelkyně dozvěděl o kapele Papa Roach a následně se přidal. 21.12.2002 se oženil s Jessicou Lee. Je abstinent a nekuřák a jako jediný z kapely pochází z nerozpadlé rodiny. Hodně hraje na Playstation.

Je nejmladším členem kapely. Narodil se 14.11.1979 ve Vacaville. Jeho rodiče se rozvedli když mu bylo 6 let. V osmi letech se učil hrát na baskytaru a naučil se na ni hrát sám. Čas od času zastupoval původního baskytaristu Papa Roach Willa Jamese až do té doby než z kapely odešel. To se k ní pak přidal na trvalo. V roce 97‘ udělal maturitu a v roce 2002 se oženil s Jennifer a stal se otcem Evy. Tobin je nejmuzikálnějším a nejspokojenějším členem v kapele.

Později se jeho rodina přestěhovala do Vacaville kde v roce 93‘ založil s Jacobym Papa Roach. Zdárně udělal maturitu a začal studovat v Seatllu. Vymyslel logo Papa Roach. Ve svém volném čase maluje obrazy. Je ženatý s Miou Tyler.
